Quick answer

Closed Beta players discussed infantry free-look as a missing or deliberately limited control. No official announcement confirms a free-look key, a planned implementation, or a final control policy for Early Access.

If the current build still has no infantry free-look, cross open ground by scanning before moving, using cover in short stages, and sharing angles with teammates instead of assuming you can watch a flank without turning your character.

Why do players want it?

Free-look can let a player check a side angle while continuing to move forward. Supporters argued that a limited view would help with road crossings, open terrain, and tactical awareness without requiring a full-body turn.

Why do some players prefer no free-look?

Character facing is information. When players must turn to look, an opponent can judge whether a route is watched, whether a flank is hidden, and when crossing behind someone is safer. Removing that certainty can make every visible character harder to read.

Design choicePlayer benefitTactical cost
No infantry free-lookEnemy facing remains readable.Crossing and scanning feel less convenient.
Limited-angle free-lookHelps check near flanks without seeing behind the body.Facing becomes less reliable unless head movement is visible.
Wide free-lookMaximizes awareness and comfort. Can weaken flanking information and character readability.
Vehicle-only or head-tracking supportHelps pilots and drivers without changing infantry rules.Does not solve the infantry request.

What compromises did players propose?

The main community proposals were a roughly 90-degree limit, visible head-turn animation, and separate TrackIR or head-tracking support for vehicles. None of those proposals appears in the announced roadmap.

What should you check in the current build?

  • Review the infantry and vehicle keybind menus separately.
  • Confirm whether a look control changes only the camera or also the character model.
  • Ask whether other players can see head movement before relying on facing as information.
  • Re-test after control patches because beta discussions can become obsolete quickly.
